A ‘Veteran,' whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve is 'someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to and including his life.'

I am a member of the 9-12 Group in Mentor and would like to inform all of the all-day "Making of America, Constitutional Seminar" that we are sponsoring for October 16, 2010 in Painesville, OH. This will be presented by NCCS ( the National Center for Constitutional Studies). Prepaid registration is required by September 15.

We are committed to the freedoms of this nation. We support veterans, the National Guard, the Reserve, and those on active duty. We ride in support of our nation and our military thru our community service.

Charter Process

If you are interested in starting your own AMVETS Riders Chapter, the list below will serve as a guideline to the AMVETS National Headquarters charter process. To be considered as an official AMVETS Riders Chapter you must submit a copy of the Ohio AMVETS Riders constitution and bylaws, along with the items listed below to the AMVETS Executive Director or National Commander. On this Web site, you will find a sample constitution to help guide you through the process. If you have any questions, please feel free to call AMVETS National Headquarters toll-free at (877) 726-8387.  Items Required:

  1. Charter Application
  2. Officer Revalidation Form
  3. EIN Number (cannot use Post Number) – this is an IRS requirement.

  4. Proof of Liability Insurance (even if covered under Post)
  5. Five Charter Members (plus 5 additional members in first year)
  6. Articles of Incorporation
